The RSNO had limited cash and a great big challenge, to sell out their new season.
We created the worlds first ‘text request orchestra’. We hired an open top double decker bus and convinced local radio station Clyde1 to ride with us and do regular updates and outside broadcasts. For the two weeks prior to the event we ran a radio advert on Clyde1 asking people to visit our website and enter their name, location and favorite big band tune. Then on the day the bus toured Glasgow pulling up to reward the lucky listener with a live version of their chosen tune.
With the database of names collected through the website and the text mechanic (which topped 10,000) we were able to email/text each with a voucher for the new season which could be redeemed if tickets were purchased online. We had a staggering 23% take up on the offer with a sell out on the opening night.
